Day 20 I Was in a Mood, So I Made Dumplings
The age-old question: how do you create from boredom, or from a general grumpy mood?
Lately, I’ve been in transition in so many areas of my life, and it often leaves me feeling overwhelmed and stuck. Today, I tried a small remedy—making something lighthearted with oil pastels: a colourful still life of dumplings.
At first, I still felt unsure. But as time passed, I slipped back into a flow state. I let myself enjoy the process without overthinking the outcome.
Art can be many things—serious and playful, dark and bright. I believe we are all born as creative beings, but under pressure we lose touch with the part of ourselves that is happy to try new things.
This is a little reminder to pause, pick up whatever feels simple—even a bit “immature”—and just paint.
I hope you are well, wherever you are.
